Getting Started with HIP

To help Inspectors get started using HIP.

Step 1: If you haven’t already done so, Sign Up for a free trial or purchase Home Inspector Pro Here. Or if you need assistance with getting signed up or purchasing, give us a call at 888-750-4777 or do a live chat with us on our website, or email us at [email protected].

Step 2: You’ll then want to download the software, which you can find an article to help with that here.

Step 3: Also you’ll want to get the Mobile App, which you can find help with here.

Step 4: Once the software has been successfully installed, double-click the HIP icon on your desktop (Windows)

Or find the HIP icon in your Applications folder (Mac).

Step 5: Sign In with your HIP Username and Password when prompted. You would have created this when you signed up and/or purchased.

Step 6: Once you have the Mobile App installed, you’ll want to start by going to the Sync Tab and log in there.

Step 7: You’ll first want to sync a template to HIP Mobile.

Follow these steps to sync a template to HIP Mobile

1. Make sure you have installed both the PC and Mobile Applications and

have logged in to both.

2. Review the Templates on PC (Open Template) and choose the one you

would like to upload (Default Template is recommended for beginners).

3. Click on Mobile Sync in the top right corner of the HIP PC application.

4. Choose Upload Template on the left side of the Mobile Sync screen.

5. From the list, select the template (.tpz file) you want to sync to HIP

Mobile and then click Open.

6. Once the upload reaches 100% go to the HIP Mobile App on your Phone

or Tablet.

7. On the Sync tab, press the Refresh button & select your uploaded

Template in the dropdown box.

8. When the correct Template shows in the dropdown box, press

Download (If updating a Template, you will choose to overwrite when

prompted).

9. Once the download is complete, you can use the downloaded template

to create a new inspection on the Manage tab.

Step 8: Now you’ll want to start an inspection in HIP Mobile.

To start an inspection on HIP Mobile, follow these steps:

1. Before you begin, make sure you have uploaded a template to HIP

Mobile (Syncing a template to HIP Mobile)

2. On the Manage tab, select the template you want to use in the top

drop-down box or list.

3. In the text field below the Template drop-down/list, type in the name of

the inspection you want to create, and then press Create.

4. Your inspection will open to the Inspection tab, and you will see the main

sections of the template.

5. Click on the Client Information tab to input Client Name, Email, Address,

etc. If you use HIP Office or ISN, you can import this information from an

open order that is created there.

6. You are now ready to inspect! Return to the Inspect tab to start your

inspection. Here you can start selecting or adding your comments and

photos to the Inspection.

Step 9: You’ll now be able to do the inspection, you’ll be able to gather the information and images about the property you are inspecting.

Step 10: Once you have finished the inspection. You’ll want to sync your inspection from HIP Mobile to HIP Desktop in order to generate your report.

1. On your Mobile Device, go to the Sync tab and scroll to the bottom to

press the Upload button.

2. Choose your saved inspection in the list and then press Upload.

3. Once the upload is complete, go to HIP Desktop on your PC.

4. In the HIP Desktop software, click the Mobile Sync button in the top right

corner.

5. On the right side of the page, select Download Inspections.

6. In the list that opens, locate the inspection that you uploaded and click

on the blue cloud download icon to the right of that inspection.

7. Once the download is complete, you can close the Manage Inspections

in Cloud window.

8. Click on Open Inspection in the top left corner and choose your

downloaded inspection file in the Open file window.

9. Your inspection will open to the Client Information screen where you will

see any information you have entered.

10. Review your inspection.
