These instructions cover the steps for updating your existing Home Inspector Pro version 5 installation to the most recent version.
To find the version that is currently installed: In the Home Inspector Pro desktop application, go to the About menu and About. The current version will be displayed at the top of the About screen.

Note: We recommend restarting your computer before running the update. This prevents antivirus programs from locking any HIP files during installation.
1. To download the most recent version of the Home Inspector Pro program for Windows and macOS, click on the following link for your operating system:

macOS: https://www.homeinspectorpro.com/dmdocuments/HomeInspectorPro5.dmg
Note: This update is specific to the Home Inspector Pro desktop application. The update will be performed on your Windows or macOS device.
Make sure your current copy of the Home Inspector Pro program is closed before running the update to Home Inspector Pro.
2. The installer for Home Inspector Pro should begin downloading automatically. If the download does not begin downloading automatically, click to save the installer to your computer.
Note: If you receive notifications from Windows blocking the installer from downloading, please see this article.
3. Run the Home Inspector Pro 5 installer by clicking on the HomeInspectorPro5.exe or HomeInspectorPro5.dmg in your browser, or double-click on the installer from your Downloads folder.
Note: You may be prompted to give permission for the installer to run. Click Yes or Continue.
For macOS Users:
Your computer's security preferences may prevent the Home Inspector Pro installer from launching, as the installer was not downloaded from the Apple App Store. To bypass this, simply right-click on the installer, click Open and click Open on the window that pops up.
4. The installer will begin opening. On the first screen, click I Agree to agree to the user license.
5. You will then be prompted for the location to install the Home Inspector Pro program. The installer will default to installing in the c:\Program Files (x86)\Home Inspector Pro\ folder. If you have previously installed the Home Inspector Pro program in a different folder, the location will automatically be updated to the location where the program was previously installed.
If you would like to specify a different location for the Home Inspector Pro program to run from, click Browse, then choose another location.
6. Once the proper location is specified, click Install. The Home Inspector Pro program will begin installing.
7. Once the installation is complete, you will receive the final screen. Click Finish.
8. After the installer has completed installation, double-click on your icon for Home Inspector Pro. Your existing license and login information will be maintained.
9. Go to the About menu and click About, then confirm the version of the program installed at the top of the screen.
