These instructions cover how to launch the Home Inspector Pro program on a Windows 10 machine, and then send the log entries via email.


Confirm the Home Inspector Pro program is closed before following these steps.


  1. In the lower-left corner of your computer (to the right of your Windows Start Menu), click in the search field, and type cmd.
  2. From the results, you will have the result of Command Prompt.
  3. Click Run as administrator.
  4. If prompted to give permission to run the application as an administrator, click Yes. A new command prompt window will open.
  5. From the Command Prompt, type in the following command and press Enter.
    cd "\Program Files (x86)\Home Inspector Pro"
  6. Then launch the Home Inspector Pro program from the command prompt by typing the following command and press Enter.
    .\jre10\bin\java.exe -jar HomeInspectorPro5.exe

The Home Inspector Pro program will then launch. In the command prompt window, you will see the actions of the program occurring. Continue to use the program as you would normally. 


If the program does crash or hang at any point, return to the command prompt. 


  1. From the command prompt, click on the Command Prompt icon in the upper-left corner. 
  2. Go to Edit.
  3. Click Select All. The entire contents of the command prompt will be highlighted.
  4. From the command prompt, click on the Command Prompt icon in the upper-left corner. 
  5. Go to Edit.
  6. Click Copy. The contents of the command prompt will be copied.
  7. In the lower-left corner of your computer (to the right of your Windows Start Menu), click in the search field, and type Notepad.
  8. From the results, you will have the result of Notepad.
  9. Click Open.
  10. In the Notepad window, right-click in the empty whitespace, click Paste. The contents of the command prompt will then be pasted.
  11. Go to the File menu, click Save
  12. Enter a file name, then choose the location of where the file will be saved, such as your Desktop. Click Save.


Once the file has been saved, the file can be emailed to the appropriate contact for review. If you do not have a specific contact, the file can be sent to help@homeinspectorpro.com.
