Merging the Maintenance Template

How to merge the Maintenance Template into your existing template.

This article covers the steps for merging the Maintenance Template in to your existing Home Inspector Pro template. If you have not customized your existing template, you can use load an updated version of the Mike Holmes Inspections that includes the Maintenance portion.

To load the template, follow these steps:

  1. Download the Maintenance Template file to your local computer (to the Downloads folder, or another location). This can be found here: https://drive.google.com/open?id=1NkJC9x5AaC6yNfUsHMg8PEGLXc9_HQ9p&usp=drive_fs

  2. Launch the Home Inspector Pro application on your Windows/macOS computer.

  3. Click Open Template, then select your current template. Click OK.

  4. Once the template has opened, go to the File menu and select Import/Merge Another Inspection.

  5. Find the Maintenance Template file you saved in step 1. Click Open.

  6. The Maintenance Template section will be imported into your current template, under a section titled Merged Inspection 1.

  7. Click Edit Template in the toolbar. (item 1)

  8. On the left side of the screen, find the Merged Inspection 1 folder.

  9. Double-click on the Merged Inspection 1 folder. (item 2)

  10. In the pop-up window, rename the folder to something you will recognize, such as Maintenance. Click OK. The name shown here will not appear on the reports, so it can be named as you choose. (item 3)

  11. Click Done. (item 4)

  12. Once your changes have been made, click on Save Template in the toolbar.

  13. Change the File Name to a new file name you will recognize. Often updating the name to include the date of last change is helpful. In addition, you can add a note in the Template Description section of the screen to describe the change.

  14. Click Save.

  15. To set this template as the default when launching the Home Inspector Pro program, click Save Template again.

  16. Check the box in the lower-left corner to set the template as the default (item 1).

  17. When prompted, click Yes. (item 2)

  18. Click Save. (item 3)

After you have completed the changes to the template, the template can be used for future inspections.

Also, make sure to upload the most recent version of the template to the cloud under the Mobile Sync button, then download the template to your mobile device in the HIP Mobile app under the Sync tab.
