To begin using your Network Solutions domain with your HomeInspectorSites hosted web site, it is necessary to make changes to your domain settings to direct traffic to the HomeInspectorSites servers. Before you begin this process, make sure that you have your current username and password for your Network Solutions account. If you are unsure of your current information, you can contact Network Solutions technical support at (800) 333-7680 or through their web site: https://www.networksolutions.com/help/index.jsp
To make the changes, follow these steps:
Step 1: Go to the Network Solutions web site ( https://www.networksolutions.com ).
Step 2: Click on Manage Account.
Step 3: Log in to Account Manager.
Step 4: Within Account Manager, use the drop down under My Domain Names to choose the domain you’d like to manage and click the Go button.
Step 5: In the green box, select Change Where Domain Points.
Step 6: Select Advanced DNS.
Step 7: Click the Continue button.
Step 8: If the domain name was not previously pointed to Network Solutions nameservers (DNS), you will receive a page with a message regarding this change. If you’d like to continue, click the Move Nameservers to Network Solutions button.
Step 9: In the IP Address (A Records) section, click Edit A Records.
Step 10: Your current A records are listed in editable form, and any Network Solutions service that is associated with the A record is listed below the Numeric IP text box.
Step 11: Enter or edit the new host name in the Host column.
Step 12: Modify the TTL setting (7200 is the default).
Step 13: Enter or edit 67.225.130.208 under the Numeric IP Address column in a remaining empty row.
Step 14: Click Continue.
You will also need to change the setting to allow the www portion of your domain name to redirect to your web site. To make the changes, follow these steps:
Step 1: Within Account Manager, use the drop down under My Domain Names to choose the domain you’d like to manage and click the Go button.
Step 2: In the green box, select Change Where Domain Points.
Step 3: Select Advanced DNS.
Step 4: Click the Continue button.
Step 5: In the Host Alias (CNAME Records) section, click Edit CNAME Records.
Step 6: Enter or edit the alias name in the Alias text box, specifically www.
Step 7: Select Other Host.
Step 8: Enter or edit a name in the Other Host text field (your domain name).
Step 9: Click Continue.
Once completed with your changes, review the list of requested changes, then click Continue. It may take up to 24-48 hours for the changes to propagate to our servers. You will be able to tell when the changes have been made when you go to your domain name in your web browser, and you are taken to the HomeInspectorSites.com site (though not necessarily your site) instead of the previous site or the Network Solutions landing page on your domain.
Once your domain is pointing at the HomeInspectorSites.com site, you can then change the setting in your site to migrate from the temporary HomeInspectorSites.com domain to your permanent domain name.
