Home Inspector Pro Desktop
Windows:
Windows 10 or later operating system (64-bit) or ARM on Windows 11
Intel/AMD Processor
8 GB minimum RAM (16GB recommended)
4 GB of free hard drive space
Note: Windows on ARM processors requires Windows 11 to work with HIP Desktop. Starting with Home Inspector Pro version 5.6.7, a 64-bit version of Windows is required.
To find your current operating system type, (on Windows 10) go to the Start Menu and select Settings, then go to System. Click About.
macOS:
Mac OS X 10.7 or later
Intel/AMD/M1 Processor
8 GB minimum RAM (16GB recommended)
4 GB of free hard drive space
To find your current macOS version, click on the Apple menu in the upper-left corner, then select About This Mac.
HIP Mobile
Most devices produced in the last 3-4 years will work adequately with the HIP Mobile application, the values below are considered the minimum requirements.
A cellular connection is not required for use in the field, as a data connection is only required when downloading a template or uploading your inspection.
The storage requirements reflect the minimum amount of space that is required. More storage space is recommended, especially if you will be taking large amounts of video or saving the high-resolution Full-Size Images
Android:
Android 10 operating system or later (find your Android version)
16 GB storage space (or more)
Rear-facing camera
WiFi wireless network connection.
iPhone/iPad:
iOS 13 or later (find your iOS version)
16 GB storage space (or more)
Rear-facing camera
WiFi wireless network connection.
General Recommendation:
These requirements are intended as the minimum requirements for a system to use Home Inspector Pro. Of course, the more memory and the higher performance processor available, the better Home Inspector Pro will perform.
For the storage space, you will want to assume 15-25 megabytes per inspection (the inspection file (.hzf) and the resulting PDF report), though the more photos and video included in an inspection, the larger the files will be.
Backups
Your inspections created in Home Inspector Pro are stored locally on your computer, along with your template, your license, and all customizations you have made to the Home Inspector Pro program. It is strongly recommended that you have an on-site backup of your computer in place (such as an external hard drive) that backs up the contents of your Home Inspector Pro program. In addition, it is recommended to have an offsite, automatic backup in place in case something happens to your computer and on-site backup. Services such as Backblaze (https://www.backblaze.com/), Carbonite (https://www.carbonite.com/), or Crashplan (https://www.crashplan.com/en-us/) are a lifesaver when they are in place. While as small business you're trying to avoid additional costs and monthly subscriptions, these services will pay for themselves ten-fold when the time comes that you need them.
It is important to also confirm regularly that these backups are being actively taken, so it is recommended to spot check your files are backed up every few months. If you have questions on setting up your backups, or to confirm your backup settings are correct for using in conjunction with Home Inspector Pro, Home Inspector Support can help you confirm your proper configuration.
If you are using the Home Inspector Office Service for report delivery, your encrypted PDF reports are stored in the cloud, but the editable inspection file (the .hzf file) is not uploaded to the cloud unless selected. If you are using the Inspection Support Network (ISN) for report delivery, your PDF reports are stored on their system, and if you have checked the box to Backup current inspection (HZF) file to ISN, your editable inspection file will be available to download from ISN for future changes.
These services are not intended as a replacement for a regular backup. These work in addition to your normal backup used to back up all the documents and files on your work computer.
